Everything in the "stack" powering this app is BSD-licensed, so if you're not happy with it you can easily run your own :)

I'm using:

• django-tweetar The web interface - forms for getting the station to tweet, and the "glue" that holds it all together.
• python-tweetar The library that handles getting METARs from NOAA and posting them to Twitter.
• django-socialregistration This library handles all of the authentication/connection of Twitter accounts to weather stations.
• django-weathertracking This library stores all of the weather stations listed by NOAA in their master file as the "overall" list.
• python-twitter (third party) This library makes it easy to communicate with Twitter in the Python programming language.
• python-oauth2 (third party) Used by python-twitter and django-socialregistration to make the OAuth process easier to deal with.

It's running on an instance on the Rackspace Cloud. For now it will be fine on the smallest at ~$11/mo, but factor in bandwidth and room for backups it will be at least $15/mo. Depending on growth splitting into multiple hosts may be necessary, which will approximately double the cost. I say all this for transparency - if I'm going to ask for donations, I want you to know what it's going toward. Any contributions will go toward keeping this up until it can no longer support itself, then it may go away. I like having it available for people, but already have a bunch of infrastructure costs for other projects I'm supporting.

Keep this going
This project requires its own dedicated infrastructure that is beyond my ability to subsidize for very long. If you find it useful, please consider contributing toward keeping it online. Infrastructure costs will likely be about $25/mo in the beginning. If you include your Twitter screenname you'll get a shoutout on the site, or you can request to be anonymous.
